The VW Transporter T6.1 is a superb option whether you need a solid, reliable work vehicle, a week-end adventure mobile, a practical family taxi, or all three. Available either as a traditional panel van that seats the driver and two passengers or as a kombi variant with seating for five or six, the Transporter offers the flexibility you need to live your life, your way. And with an easy, affordable VW Transporter lease or finance agreement from Swiss Vans, that flexibility extends to your wallet too.
Volkswagen offers two wheelbases and two roof heights on the Transporter. There are engine, transmission, and drive-system choices too: several power outputs, manual or automatic, FWD or VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive (AWD) system. If you’re looking for something with a smaller ecological footprint, there’s even an eTransporter made in cooperation with German engineering specialists ABT.
The Transporter comes in multiple GVWs, and payloads are decent too. In terms of the interior, there are two trim levels available: Startline and Highline. Highline benefits from great extras like air-conditioning, alloys, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc. Both trim levels come equipped with plenty of safety features.
Then there’s the Sportline — VW’s super-sporty Transporter — and our very own WASP and Hornet upgrades: lots of ways to make sure you get exactly the van you want! We have outstanding offers on cash sales, but we’re also famous for our low-rate VW Transporter lease and VW Transporter finance deals. Get in touch today to see what we can arrange for you.

VW TRANSPORTER FINANCE PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FROM SWISS VANS
At Swiss Vans, we don’t just sell vans. We also provide finance (or refinance) options for vans you already own, and we can help you to finance a VW you’d like to buy from another seller. We always work to find you the best rates and ensure that everything is safe and above-board, so no fears of fraud or unfair contracts. And when you arrange your finance through Swiss Vans, we’ll also make sure that the van you want to buy is a good choice: we won’t let you buy a lemon!
A VW Transporter Finance lease is the best option for 90% of our customers. It allows you to get a brand-new van with a small deposit and low monthly payments, and it may or may not include a final payment depending on your specific agreement. You keep the van for a few years, and then it’s sold to a third party. It’s a great fit for most people, but there are a few cases where it won’t work: fleets of more than 50 vehicles, flat rate VAT, or those people who plan to convert their van into a camper to live in. As you don’t own the vehicle, you’re not permitted to carry out modifications. You can see our full Finance Lease page for more information.
This is a very useful finance option for fleets of 50+ basic vans. At the end of your agreed hire term, which includes specifics on length of time, mileage, and the condition of the vehicle, you return the van to the lender. However, it is a very expensive option for custom vans. It also isn’t a great solution for WASP vans or the VW Transporter Kombi Sportline, and as there’s a credit check involved, it won’t work for you if you have a bad credit history. The contract hire option is really more for businesses than private individuals, as the terms of the agreement are quite strict.
If you want to keep your van forever, or at least for a good long while, VW Transporter Lease Purchase / Hire Purchase may be the option for you. It’s an ownership scheme and involves monthly payments to contribute to the full cost of the vehicle. Lease purchase often has a final “balloon” (or large) payment, whereas Hire Purchase does not.
These options are most suitable for customers planning to convert their van into a camper or a home, flat rate VAT customers, and large, VAT-registered companies. You can find out more about Lease Purchase and Hire Purchase for a VW Transporter on our lease purchase page.
Customise your upholstery with selected leather upgrades that enhance the comfort and ambience of the vehicle while delivering a seamless seating and driving experience that is pleasing for everyone.
With multiple options to choose from, you can ensure that you get the luxury and convenience you deserve every time you jump into your car.
With custom leather services with our partners, you can enjoy the ride, and lounge in style, at the same time!
A finance lease is a contract that allows you to pay for a vehicle over a set period of time at fixed, pre-determined rates. On a VW, this period is usually four years. The finance lease model does not provide ownership of the vehicle at the end, and while it is possible (via a circuitous process) to buy the van after the lease is over, it’s not generally a good choice if you want to keep the van, and it’s not possible to do a conversion on a finance lease.
Even though the agreement is over four years (on average), most customers will part-exchange the van back to us for a new vehicle before the three-year point. This way, you always have a van that’s always under warranty, and you get the tax and VAT benefits (if applicable). As such, it’s worth nothing that all finance lease payments are plus VAT. If you’re VAT registered, you can claim the VAT back quarterly.
With a hire purchase (HP) agreement, you essentially pay the VAT as a deposit upfront. If you’re VAT registered, you can claim this back at your next VAT quarter. You then pay for the vehicle over 2-4 years. If you want to lower the monthly payments, then you can choose the option of a large final payment at the end of the agreement’s term.
Hire purchase allows you to own the vehicle once the contract is complete. With either agreement, you have the option to add upgrades to your vehicle, such as leather seats, body kits, upgraded alloys wheels, etc., and spread the cost over your monthly payments.
The primary difference between the two models is their passenger- and cargo-carrying capacity. If you need to carry more people, then the kombi model is probably best for you as it seats a total of five or six (including the driver). However, the extra seating does compromise the available cargo space. If you need to carry more cargo, then the panel van will be your best option. It offers seating for the driver and up to two passengers and has significantly more space in the back.
You can claim back the VAT on either version: panel van or kombi.
Yes! You can spread the cost of your upgrades and options over your monthly finance repayments and pay for the extras over time.
Whether it’s better to lease a vehicle or purchase it outright depends on the individual requirements of your company. If you want to claim the VAT back in full, then hire purchase may be best way forward, but a finance lease generally offers the solution with the lowest deposit and monthly repayments. It’s also an easy route to getting a brand-new van every few years.
While we can give you the finance facts, we can’t advise you on what to do in your circumstances. It’s always best to speak to your accountant to find out how to get the best VAT and tax benefits for your business.
When you lease a van, the deposit can vary. You will have to pay something up front, and this can range from some thousands anywhere up to half the value of the vehicle. Most of our advertised deposits start at around £3000 + VAT, but bear in mind that the more you put down up front, the less your monthly payments will be throughout the lease term.
The deposit payment is calculated plus VAT, and this can be claimed back by VAT-registered lease holders on a quarterly basis. (However, the situation is different for those who are registered for VAT on the Flat Rate Scheme. It’s always best to seek clarity from your accountant about the best option for you).
In the case of a hire purchase contract, a minimum payment of 20% of the value of the vehicle is required. This is equal to the VAT and is reclaimable. You can pay an additional deposit on top of this, if you wish, to lower your monthly payments.

John Davies –
This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Years of driving estate cars and struggling for space and I am left wondering why I didn’t do this earlier. The new T6.1 is fantastic, I love the fits the boys @ Swiss sorted for me, the carpet in the back, leather seats and body kit are amazing. I went for the: – Electric Side Opening Doors, LED Headlights, Heated Seats as extra options and this is the by far the best vehicle I have ever seen in my life!!
Callum –
Legend. Honestly this van is the best ever. It looks insane with the WASP upgrade, runs like a dream, never broken down, just top in every way. Thanks Swiss, I’ll absolutely be back.
Simon –
The extra cost of this van just wasn’t worth it. It’s ok, but it’s had some issues and I just don’t like driving it. Coming to the end of the warranty so I’ll probably trade in for a different van, different make. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not awful, but for the money I’d have expected a lot better.
Steve –
Pretty good van overall, but a couple of things would stop me giving it 5 stars. The cab feels cramped to me (but I am 6’4”) and I struggle to get comfortable in the driver’s seat on long journeys. Maybe just me though I’m well aware! Other than that, the VW garage here has just been useless with a few minor things I’ve needed sorted. Nothing huge, but the lack of customer service just put me off. I’m thinking of swapping out the seat, just need to swap out the garage and I’ll be all good.
Tom Lewes –
I literally live in my van. It’s a high-roof Transporter conversion; I did most of the work myself with a little help from an electrician friend. It’s absolutely amazing and I totally love it. I hope it runs forever! Seriously if you’re considering true van life and a conversion then go for it, best decision I ever made. I looked at Ford, Merc and VW, decided on VW and I have no regrets at all. Purchase price was a little higher than Ford but I much prefer VW’s style, also it’s just better to drive and has more safety features. Ha and as it’s my house, I was worried about the dodgy locks on Ford! The VW is just perfect though, I couldn’t be happier.
Mike –
Over the moon with my Transporter Hornet. The lowered look is awesome and the leather is sooo comfortable. Only problem is on hot days when it gets a bit sweaty but no worries about too many of those here in Wales! Everyone always comments on the van, it’s my work van but also my only vehicle so it gets a lot of use. I’ve got the kombi with bulkhead for flexibility and so far it’s been perfect. Great to drive on long journeys and it gets good mileage even in town. VW garage were really good when I needed something. No complaints really, I’d recommend it to anyone.
