Who we are

swissvans.com is operated by Swiss Vans Ltd (Company No. 7170662), Gees Yard, Coychurch Road, Bridgend, CF31 3AP. We offer van leasing, van sales and finance broking. We are an FCA authorised credit broker (FRN 668283).

Swiss Vans Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we collect

When you send us an enquiry, an application or a chat message through this website we collect:

• your name
• your email address
• your phone number (if you give one)
• the vehicle you are interested in
• any message you choose to write

If you apply for a vehicle through this website, the application form also collects:

• your date of birth, home address, previous address (if relevant) and how long you have lived at your address
• your residential and employment status
• your business type, trading name, company number, how long you have traded and annual turnover, and your business address
• your bank details (bank name, account holder name, sort code and account number)
• the vehicle, term and payment you are applying for
• your consents: to a soft credit search, to confirm your information is accurate, and (optionally) to receive updates from us

If you use our live chat, we also collect:

• your name, mobile number and email address
• the messages you send and the replies you receive
• the page you were on when you started the chat

Replies in live chat may come from our team or from an automated assistant. Chats are handled in our customer-management system.

If you register an account, we also collect your account details: your name and contact details, your address, details of your business (such as its type, trading name, company number, turnover and VAT registration), your vehicle and fleet preferences, and the vehicles you save.

We also use analytics and marketing cookies, but only if you accept them (see Cookies below).

Why we use it

We use your details to respond to your enquiry, to give you the information or quote you asked for, and to assess and process your application, including checking your identity and bank details, carrying out the soft credit search you consent to, and verifying business details with Companies House. We do this because you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract, and because we have a legitimate interest in running our business and answering the enquiries we receive (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (f)). We only use analytics and marketing cookies with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).

When you submit an enquiry through a Swiss Vans form, or through any other source we receive enquiries from, you consent to us contacting you on WhatsApp about that enquiry. We will only use WhatsApp to deal with your enquiry. You can ask us to stop at any time by replying to a message or emailing info@swissvans.com.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for 2 years, then delete them. We keep chat and application details for as long as we need them to process your enquiry or application and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

We use service providers to run this website and handle enquiries, for example website hosting, our customer-management system, analytics, identity and bank-account verification, address lookup and credit reference agencies (for the soft credit search you consent to). They process your data on our instructions and only for those purposes. If you apply for finance, we share your application with the lenders and finance providers we introduce you to. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access)
• have inaccurate data corrected
• ask us to delete your data
• ask us to restrict, or object to, our use of your data
• receive your data in a portable format, where it applies
• withdraw your consent to analytics and marketing cookies, or to being contacted on WhatsApp, at any time

To use any of these rights, email info@swissvans.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Cookies

The only non-essential cookies we use are analytics cookies from Google Analytics (GA4), which help us understand how the website is used, and marketing cookies from Meta's advertising pixel, which help us measure and improve our advertising. Both are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner.

To let you carry on a chat after reloading the page, the live chat stores a random session identifier in your browser's local storage. It is not used for tracking.

Our cookie consent tool (CookieYes) stores your choice in a cookie so we can remember it. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings, or by deleting cookies in your browser.
