The largest automobile manufacturer in Italy; Fiat was established in 1899 by Giovanni Agnelli. It wasn’t long until Fiat recognised that vehicles can assist professionals which is why Fiat’s first commercial vehicle was made in 1904. Production went to another level during World War I where Fiat vans were exported to European armies.
What Fiat vans can I get?
To go with the quirky look of the Fiat vans, there is a quirky naming tradition that goes with it. All the vans in the range are named after historical Italian coins – Fiorino, Doblo and Ducato.
Fiat’s professional range is one of the best in the sector, covering the needs of all types of businesses. Cheap to run and cheap to buy, it is easy to see why Fiat have picked up awards on five of their models since 1994.
Dubbed ‘the van built for the city’ by Fiat themselves, the Fiat Fiorino makes urban driving easy. With the compact dimensions and agile handling, navigation of busy streets is straightforward. Not only that, but it is economical, too with fuel consumption potential of up to 72.4mpg with stop-start. Ideal for the sole tradesman who needs something small but practical to get around in.
You can get a load space of up to 2.8m3 with a payload of 660kg so there is plenty of room for your tools and materials. There is a Combi option available to increase seating from two to five if you need to carry passengers, too. However, there will be reduced space with this so it’s worth thinking of your priorities.

For something that’s a little bigger that can provide you with some more cargo space, the Fiat Doblo may be a better option. Named the International Van of the year in 2011; there is a bit more flexibility than the Fiorino. Still in the small van category, there are more variants to choose from to ensure you have sufficient space in your van.
You can choose between two wheelbases while there’s even an XL model which can take load capacity up to 5m3. It can be strong for a small van, too as it can hold up to a tonne. Carrying up to 5 passengers is also possible with the Combi model.
The versatility is demonstrated further with the Doblo available for conversion called the Work Up, which can be made to suit the specific needs of businesses.

If you need something robust that can handle heavy loads then the Fiat Ducato could be the van for you. This large van has an impressive fuel consumption for its size which can go up to 47.9mpg. Not only can you save money on fuel but you have a range of choice on what size to get.
There are four wheelbases available from short to extra-long, so whether you want something more agile or more space, the Ducato can suit your needs. The Ducato makes light work of heavy loads being able to shift up to two tonnes with a load volume of up to 17m3. Perfect for those in home removals or haulage, you can even convert it into a dropside or a tipper, too.
You can even use the Ducato as a multi-person vehicle for private hire or taxi services with seating up to 16 people. There is the option to make your Ducato a Combi with five seats to provide you with enough space for both cargo and your work colleagues.
