There are a bewildering number of Land Rover Defender Models
The Land Rover Defender is a bit of a niche product and supply is fantastically hard to obtain. We tend to work with dealers to offer a small number of high spec models each year. Either for sale or on 3- 12 month rental. Also we sell them 12 months old. The majority we sell already have our own upgrades on them such as the WASP or
90 110 or 130?
The first choice is the wheelbase. Rather than name them SWB MWB and LWB they are attributed 90 110 and 130. All have a sold roof despite the rather confusing name “Hard Top” which simply means its a commercial version with 2 or 3 front seats.
The Hard Top is only available as a 90 or 110 so this choice is made for you already. and for many the 90 only having tw doors is juts too inconvenient.
In an ideal world most commercial customers would choose a 2 door 130
Hardtop or Car ?
This is your first decision. The New Land Rover Defender mimic each other in terms of spec whether its the hard top or the car version. There is no soft top ! We don’t transverse the Libyan Deserts in Defenders any more !
The Land Rover Hardtop once was a car that was sent away and had the rear seats removed. In fact its been backward engineered as most car derived vans have been at some stage. This is to stop you claiming back the VAT on cars
