Renault’s Master Dropside is available in 11 dazzling colours including Smart Atlantic and Pearlescent Blue and sat at the top of the range is the Double Cab Tipper. The van comes in 3 lengths (medium, long and extra-long), maximum being 4,300mm, weighing 1,684kg.
There’s a choice of body styles (single/double cab) – all featuring rear corner pillars, fold-away step on rear side panel, non-slip wooden flooring, protective mesh divider for the passenger cab and 6-8 anchor points (version dependent).
Mostly, optional extras are the luxury features, which keeps prices down. From electric windows, manual air con and cruise control, to front fog lamps, metallic paint and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth, whatever your preferred feature, it can be requested if needed.
Other optional functional modifications include air suspension, larger 105 litre fuel tank, tool compartment, ladder rack, increased engine idle speed, tow bar, all-weather tyres and (for RWDs) a locking differential.
The Dropside pickup comes with a range of 2.3 litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines in both forward and rear wheel drive. For front wheel drive, pick from Renault’s dCi (135/150) powertrains (133/148 bhp) and for rear wheel drives, between 130 and 145 dCi units (128bhp/143bhp). You can even go for a twin wheel layout on the back axle to boost traction. All versions come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard (no automatic option).
The mix of cab styles, from Single to Double Cab, span 5,928-6,578mm, (fixed width of 2,087mm for all) and have a galvanised steel front side panel/platform and anti-slip floor fitted as standard on every conversion. Also, a steel protecting grid along with object rack for storing long items like ladders. Hey, there’s even an optional tail lift for those that need it too.
The Tipper conversion has a high strength lightweight steel body that is exceptionally durable with great payload (up to 1,314kg FWD, 890kg RWD) and towing capacity. There are also twin wheel RWD versions able to two up to 3,000kg while keeping the interior comfort of a Renault Master.
The 3 load lengths. Medium ML, Medium MLL and Long LL wheelbases give a lot of load choice, while the diesel engines (dCi) come in 130, 135 and ENERGY dCi 145 FWD/RWD options and are available as twin wheel RWD for those needing more traction. There’s an optional secure toolbox with the Tipper and it’s also available as a Crew Cab (Double Cab).
The Renault Master (steel) Tipper also comes as a Master Aluminium Tipper, a version which has high strength aluminium body and up to 1,314kg payload for front wheel drive versions. It offers the same high levels of testing and warranty as the steel tipper and also has excellent towing capacity with the twin wheel RWD versions being able to tow up to 3,000kg while keeping the interior comfort of a Renault Master.
The Aluminium Tipper benefits from a high strength body and cool features include rear tipping (Scattolini body, 45 degrees), hot galvanised steel loading deck (2mm thick), aluminium side/rear panels (400mm high), ladder and long object rack. The Aluminium Tipper comes in 2 load lengths (medium and long) and the same engine options as the usual steel version. You can also pick between Crew (Double) Cab and Single Cab.
